The Air Jordan 5 “Shattered Backboard” or “Orange Blaze” updates Michael Jordan’s fifth signature shoe in a colorway first seen on the Air Jordan 1 back in 2015. The “Shattered Backboard” theme is inspired by team uniforms worn by Jordan during an oversea exhibition game in Italy in 1985 when he famously shattered a glass backboard following a powerful dunk. The Jordan 5’s version of the “Shattered Backboard” makes use of the same white, black, and orange color scheme as every “Shattered Backboard” Air Jordan before it, albeit in a unique way. Sail leather appears on the upper while the collar, quarter panel, and lower tongue are constructed in a fine mesh material that appears on the Jordan 5 for the first time on this colorway. The top of the tongue, which displays an Orange Blaze Jumpman, is treated to the same reflective silver finish as the Jordan 5’s original construction. A black Jumpman is stitched onto the heel. Silver shark tooth detailing is found on the orange painted midsole. Release date: October 2, 2021
